how to tell lynx to output ascii

i use mutt to read mail. to view html mail. that often means that i get all kinds of garbage from the conversion of weird character sets and html. since plain ol' ascii works fine for me, my ~/.mailcap contains this entry:

text/html; /usr/bin/lynx -dump -nolist -force-html -display_charset=US-ASCII %s; needsterminal; copiousoutput
#text/html; /usr/bin/w3m -dump -T text/html %s; needsterminal; copiousoutput

the -display_charset=US-ASCII argument is the one that clears up all the gunk.

btw, the second line is there in case i’m on a box without lynx. some modern linux distro’s have some pretty silly defaults…
